Set Location while Transferring Inventory

Set Location while Transferring Inventory

Setting location can be tedious if you have to set it for a large number of devices. However, there are ways to impact the location for a lot of items in bulk, such as changing the location of container. You also can also use transfers to do this. You have the ability to search your inventory by location when transferring, and then also be able to set location for all inventory associated with the transfer.

  1. Set up your transfer as you normally would:

    1. Select Transfer Actions

    2. Select Current Custodian

    3. Select Recipient

  2. Search for the inventory to add to the transfer

  3. Add the desired devices to the transfer by clicking the plus button next to each device or container.

  4. Then in the lower left corner you may click the “Reset Location” toggle to reset the location. This allows you to then select a location from a drop down of available options.

  5. Select the Location that you would like to set for this transfer. This will apply to all inventory selected in the transfer.

  6. Click create. When the transfer is accepted the location will be set to the option you selected.

Note: Remember that location is distinct from Custody. When this transfer is completed the custody will be transferred to the Recipient - AND - the location will be set to the option you chose.

Note: When an item is transferred into a container, it will adopt the location of the container automatically.
