How to Create your Containers
Containers are different from regular devices in that they are meant to hold (or “contain” ) other device inventory, like a surgical tray holding implants and instruments. Unlike device inventory, Containers should be created manually in the system to ensure their details can all be entered correctly.
Containers are currently limited to 500 items. You will not be allowed to add inventory above that level or to create containers with more than that quantity.
If you enter a container id in the container column of an import and that container id does not exist in the system, it will be created (this also applies to misspelled container id’s - so check your data!) However, we suggest creating the containers manually to ensure all data is entered correctly.
Every container must have a UNIQUE catalog number, which is created during the container creation process. DO NOT create the Catalog for the Container prior to the container’s creation. See instructions below.
To create your container, first navigate to the Inventory screen in the Console and Click “Add Inventory”
Next, enter the relevant data to create the container:
Select “Container” in the “Inventory Type” field
Select the intended Custodian
Select the appropriate manufacturer
Select the product line for the container
Next, create the UNIQUE Catalog number for the container. Click on the “Add New” button next to the Catalog field.
Then fill in the Unique Catalog number in the pop-up, then click “Next”
Then enter the description and click “Create”
When the pop-up closes the Catalog # and Container ID will be populated. Click “Next” to advance down the screen.
Enter any production information you’d like to include, such as UDI, lot, Barcode, Tags, etc.
Click “Create”
Now your container will be in your inventory and you can stock the tray by either:
Importing items to the container by listing the (correctly spelled) Container Catalog # in the container column of your import file.
