Using Inventory in your Custody vs. Using Inventory Shared with You by a Distributor

Using Inventory in your Custody vs. Using Inventory Shared with You by a Distributor

Typically in ConnectSx if you are a Sales User and you go to use inventory in a case, you are selecting from inventory that is in your custody (which means it bears your account as its custodian). However, If you are a Sales User that is part of a Distributorship, you may have access to inventory that is in the Distributor’s Custody.

This is a cool feature, because it allows Distributors to share inventory among their linked Sales Reps which reduces the need to transfer inventory every time it changes hands within the distributorship. Feel free to learn more about Distributor Groups and sharing inventory.

When you get to the Mark Used Inventory screen to select the inventory that was used in a case it’s important to pay attention to which custody your inventory is coming from. If your filters aren’t set correctly, you may not see the correct inventory!

Why don’t I see my inventory?

If you are searching your inventory and aren’t seeing what you are supposed to see there, it is possible that you need to change your filters. There is a check box in the Mark Used Inventory window that toggles whether you are viewing inventory in the Rep’s custody that is assigned to the Event ONLY. If you uncheck this box, you will also see inventory they have access to via the Distributor’s shared inventory.

This filter will default to the last known status when you access this screen.
