the Knowledge Xfer, Issue 61: Regions and Regional Managers

Hey Brendan ,

Welcome back to the Knowledge Xfer! This week we released a major update, introducing a whole lot of new features. If you haven't yet, check out the release notes to see everything that was included.

Today we're going to highlight a modest, but important change that you need to look out for in your account. With the new release, we've added validation to the State/Region associated with a Facility address.

Why does this matter?
You may have noticed that we added 1) functionality to support Regions and 2) a new role, Regional Manager. This new functionality will allow you to track your sales by region, AND assign those regions (and everyone in them) to a Regional Manager (if you need Regional Manager licenses, let us know). In order to make that all work, the states and regions need to be consistent and validated.

After all, reporting on Regional sales wouldn't work that well if you had multiple regions referring to the same thing (ex. CA, California, Califonia, etc.). This way we ensure the data is standardized and your reports are correct ;)

So how does this impact you?

Now when you enter the state for a Facility, you'll select from a drop down list (see image above) of Google-validated States and Regions. The list is longer than just the continental US, so it is very helpful to type a handful of letters to narrow down the displayed results of the drop-down.

DON'T SKIP THIS PART: This also means that before an existing Facility record can be modified--for instance, to add a new address or point of contact--the Facility state must be added into the NEW field using this drop down menu so it can be validated. You'll notice that once you populate this new field, the old field will be removed from that Facility.

We encourage you to add the appropriate state/region for your existing facilities now so the new Region functionality will work without issue.

If you have any questions, please let us know!

All the best,
Brendan Sweeney
